My knitting journey began in October 2025, when a friend showed me a scarf she'd made herself. Like many people, I'd learned the basics as a kid - casting on, the knit stitch, and so on - but it never really stuck until now.
What surprised me most was how much joy it brought me. There's something radical about making a physical object with your hands, a reminder that I'm capable of learning new things, that I can be self-sufficient, that I have the freedom to just simply make something.
It also connects me to my grandma, who used to unravel and reknit old sweaters to keep her family warm, and who sold her hand knits for a living. That alone makes it worth everything.
